Whether you want to lose weight, feel better in the morning or do everything you can to increase your lifespan, the key is focusing on your health, both inside and out. But, with so many fads and crazes on the market, some of which are much less healthy than they claim to be, it can be hard to navigate what you need to do to feel your best.

As you may know by now, at Jomeis Fine Foods, we are passionate about helping you achieve good health, without any nasty behaviour; such as bad dieting. So, we've prepared the following blog to help you understand what you can do to achieve your health goals, without damaging your body.

Health Tip #1 - Set achievable goals

Here's the thing. Setting goals that are way out of your reach is going to kill your motivation. It's all well to want to run a 10km marathon. But, if you're not good at running, or you haven't done it in a long time, try setting something that's more achievable at first. This will help you stick to your fitness and health goals. That's not to say that you can't improve on your target later. But, it will mean that you aren't striving too high from the get-go; which is usually why people give up on their resolutions so quickly.

This piece of advice isn't just for fitness, it's for everything though. For example, when you're trying to lose weight, you must speak to a nutritionist to determine what is going to be achievable for you. The reason for this is that every healthy body looks different due to genetics, so, you need to know what you are aiming for; not what 'Instagram' tells you is the epitome of health.

Health Tip #2 - Listen to your body

Your body knows so much more than you think. Think about the last time you started falling ill. You probably knew that the cold was coming based on excess fatigue, headaches or strange hunger. The same goes for how your body reacts during times of change. For example, if you're exercising every day, you might notice that your body starts to feel extremely tired. Or if you're dieting wrong, you might feel sluggish due to a deficiency in your body.

For this reason, when you are implementing changes to your lifestyle, it's so important that you listen to how your body feels. Nothing should feel 'off' when you're striving to improve yourself. So, if it does, you may be pushing too hard or over-exerting yourself, which can have an inverse effect on your body.

When something feels wrong, make sure you take the time to find out why. It may involve visiting the doctor or a sports scientist based on the improvements you are seeking to achieve. Above all else, don't keep pushing if something doesn't feel right, you could damage your body.

Health Tip #3 - Work at an achievable pace

Here's a secret. Even those people who look 'desirable' or have your dream body have bad days. These could be days where they break their diet, ones where they spend the day on the couch or ones where they simply just don't feel good. And that's okay.

You're not always required to feel 100% and you don't need to commit to every moment to your goals. It's okay to eat some sweets, has a lazy day or simply not feel yourself some days. As long as you are generally working toward improvement as much as possible, having these so-called, 'bad days' is a way for our body to recover.

After all, imagine running 10 km every single day without a break. Your body will eventually feel too fatigued to move on. Therefore, active recovery is necessary.

Health Tip #4 - Complement your goal

It's all well and good to want to lose weight, improve fitness or work on your overall health. But, these goals can hardly ever be achieved by one change. For example, losing weight is primarily done through a change of diet. But it may also require a change of lifestyle, such as purchasing a stand-up desk to reduce sedentary hours.

In the same way, if you want to get fitter, you need to focus on hydration or your body won't be able to keep up with your goals.

So, researching everything that needs to go into achieving your target is the number one way to ensure that you can achieve this, quickly, effectively and most of all, safely.

Health Tip #5 - If at first, you don't succeed, try again

Some goals aren't meant to be achieved straight away. But it doesn't mean you should let a small failure or step backwards get you down.

Like learning a new skill, you aren't necessarily going to work out how to better yourself immediately. What will set you apart from others, however, is your ability to identify what caused your failures and overcome them to move toward your goal. After all, failure is your opportunity to self-actualise and better yourself. Plus, failure along your journey will help you feel all the more victorious when you meet your health goals.
